LITTLE MAKERS - ART EXPERIENCES FROM 0-99 Y.O
A Reggio Inspired Atelier in Amsterdam
Little Makers is a creative and educational project born in Amsterdam in 2015.
We offer art classes, creative workshops, and hands-on activities for children and families, designed to nurture creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills from an early age.
This is not about copying models or making identical results.
At Little Makers, children learn by creating — exploring materials, experimenting freely, and making their own decisions throughout the process.
We work with children from their first year of life through primary school, and we also collaborate with adults, educators, and educational communities who want to bring a more creative approach into learning.

HOW WE WORK AT LITTLE MAKERS?
At Little Makers, we follow a process art approach.
This means that the focus is not on the final result, but on the experience of creating.
-
No predefined models or fixed outcomes
Every child creates something unique. There is no “right” or “wrong” way. -
Real materials and loose parts
We work with a wide variety of materials that invite exploration, combination, and discovery. -
Respect for each child’s rhythm and decisions
Children are free to make their own choices — while we gently guide, inspire, and offer possibilities along the way. -
Carefully designed creative setups
Our spaces are intentionally prepared to spark curiosity and invite exploration, not imitation. -
The adult as a companion in the process
Adults observe, support, and enjoy the experience alongside children, without directing or controlling the outcome.
¿WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF
"PROCESS OVER RESULT" APPROACH?
Our art classes and creative experiences help children:
🎨 Develop creativity through painting, drawing, and hands-on experimentation
✋ Improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
🧠 Strengthen flexible thinking and problem-solving through open-ended exploration
💬 Build confidence in their own ideas and creative decisions
🌱 Learn to manage frustration and enjoy the process, not just the outcome
👨👩👧 Share meaningful time together through creative experiences as a family

OUR STORY
Little Makers was created by Radha Ovalles, a psychologist and entrepreneur, after becoming a mother and questioning the way art was typically offered to children.
What started as small workshops in Amsterdam in 2015 has grown into an international project that has supported thousands of children and families across Europe over the past decade.
Today, Little Makers brings together educational expertise, thoughtfully designed creative environments, and a strong community of families and educators — all connected by a shared belief in the value of creativity in childhood.
